Today, we honor Mr. Derrick Fooks. Serving in his 31st year of teaching, Mr. Derrick Fooks is a graduate of Stephen Decatur High School and is currently the Athletic Director, Physical Education teacher and head Boys’ Basketball Coach at Pocomoke High School. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Health and Physical Education from the University of Maryland Eastern Shore and a Master of Education in School Counseling from Wilmington University. In the words of Mr. Fooks, “I have always enjoyed working with kids through coaching and mentoring, but the main reason that I went into education is to make a difference in young people’s lives.” His words of wisdom: if you go into education for money, then choose another profession. If you want to make a difference in a child’s life, TEACH.
