Mr. Wheatley’s Chemistry students completed a Flame Test Lab this week, using a Bunsen burner to heat different compounds and observe the colors they produced in the flame.
Each element emits a unique color signature when heated, allowing students to identify the chemical composition of a compound based on the color of its flame. From bright greens to deep reds and glowing oranges, the lab turned the chemistry classroom into a spectrum of discovery.
Hands-on experiments like this help bring chemistry concepts to life and show how scientists use observation and evidence to uncover what substances are made of.
🧪 Learning through experimentation.
